The Huikala app

App Privacy

The Huikala app has no accounts, no ads, and nothing that follows you across other apps. Here is everything it keeps and sends.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, your phone gives the app a push token, an address for sending notifications to this app on this phone. The app sends that token to our server so we can send church announcements and service reminders. It isn't tied to your name, email or phone number. Turn notifications off in your phone's Settings at any time; a token for a phone that no longer has the app is deleted the next time we send a notification.

Usage Analytics

So we can see which parts of the app people use and make it better, the app reports which screens are opened and taps like Listen, Give, contacting a missionary or using the Fill-In Notes. These go to Rybbit, a privacy-focused analytics service, under a random ID the app makes on your phone. That ID isn't tied to your name, email, phone number or notification token, and nothing you type is sent (a sermon search reports how many sermons it found, not the words). Rybbit works out your approximate city from your connection and doesn't keep your IP address. We use this only to improve the app; it isn't used for advertising and isn't shared with anyone else.

On Your Phone

What you type into the Fill-In Notes, where you stopped in a sermon, and a copy of the sermons and announcements (so the app opens quickly) stay on your phone. We never receive them.

What We Don't Collect

The app doesn't ask for your name, email, location, contacts or photos, doesn't use advertising services, and doesn't track you across other apps or websites.

Other Services

Sermon videos and the live stream play in YouTube's player, and giving, events and group sign ups open Church Center by Planning Center. Those services have their own privacy policies. Links to Instagram, Facebook, Apple Podcasts and Spotify open in their own apps.
