Huikala Baptist Church began with a desire to reach metropolitan Honolulu with the Gospel. In 2009, prayer, planning and preparation began on the foundation for this church.
Pastor Anthony and his family were commissioned and sent from Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, California, in July 2013 to plant Huikala Baptist Church in the heart of the city. The Kings, along with three other families, opened the doors on October 13, 2013, to over eighty first-time guests.
Huikala is an urban, culturally diverse, Bible-believing, Bible-teaching, Bible-living, non-denominational Baptist church where Jesus is preeminent and you can find a fresh start. If you're looking for a friendly, healthy, Bible-believing church, you're going to love growing in grace with us.
What does Huikala mean?
Huikala is a compound of two Hawaiian words. Hui means a club, association, company, band, partnership, alliance or team. Kala means to loosen, untie, free, release, unburden, absolve, forgive or pardon. Huikala, in the literal sense, means a group of the forgiven, and that's precisely what we are.
More importantly, Huikala is a place where you can find hope, peace, forgiveness and friendship. Join us this Sunday as we worship the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
