What to expect on your first visit

I was extremely new in my faith and God placed me at Huikala. It's been a place I've been able to grow, find community, and really learn what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ! Huikala is an amazing and warm church family that welcomes you with open arms! I've never experienced anything like that at a church. You feel like you really belong there. Pastor Anthony preaches from the Word of God every Sunday and you hear the Gospel every sermon. His sermons are challenging and convicting (Praise God!!!!). You will grow here! He gives you real life application to go out into your week, make change, be more Christ like, and make disciples of all nations! Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and you will find people seeking after Truth at Huikala and feel His Love here!

Huikala is the best church I could ever imagine being a member of. My background range from traditional Chinese superstitious ancestor worship to Pentecostal speaking in tongues to working the sacraments to make myself good enough to breeze through Purgatory. I was saved at another Bible believing church 18 years ago. But the thing is my old church and a few more I've been members of do not stress enough of the Good News and how we can interact through the Word. Since coming here in Feb of this year, I have overcome decade long sins and having joy in worship, fellowship, etc. I am like did I even go to church before coming here. Sunday night was another of multiple life changing messages to me. My childhood consisted of being send from relatives to relatives, who says they love me and also got rid of me when they didn't want me. I spend my whole life looking for my identity and everywhere I turned to hurts me. When pastor says my identity IS in Christ, and expounded on that, well, I am FINALLY free from this lifelong burden. Our family has been attending Huikala for nearly a year. We started going because of the location, outreach, doctrine - we kept going because every single person attending this church cares. For us and everyone in the community. Our son has been embraced by the outstanding children's director and the other adults that work/play/teach a LOT with the kids (lock-ins, camp, long sunday school services when the pastor fails to check the clock)....... Our teenage daughter attends the Wednesday night youth group - it's not quite as fun as the younger group (!) but she's always reminding me to get her to youth group on Wednesday nights.... I grew up in a strict Southern Baptist home - one of those where everyone went "every time the doors were opened" and have an undergraduate degree from Baylor University - I honestly could have gone the rest of my life without attending another Baptist church service - the rest of my life...... But Huikala won me over - I'm not the "best" member - I still kind of drag my feet on Sunday mornings - but when I arrive, the music (the pianist is outstanding!), the upbeat/positive member greeters, the (relentlessly) encouraging pastor, the Biblically-based teaching (trust me, I know it when I hear it) - and the remarkable sense of humor of the pastor's wife as she navigates guests, children's church, members, and so on and so on..... inspirational! Attend one Sunday - it starts at 10 - you can sleep in AND go to church!

After moving out of the central city, I tried other churches, but missed the fellowship I found with the adults and even some of the kids here at Huikala. Funny thing, I am a professional teacher of very young children, but I have not related to the children at other churches in nearly the same way that I have found the keiki at Huikala to be. We were warmly welcomed into the assembly and worshiped among the regular attendees as brothers and sisters in Christ. This church picks up the Bible and reads from it. They preach God’s word and point to Christ as their salvation. The sermon given praised God and worshiped Him for who He is and what He has done. There seems to be many opportunities to have fellowship among the believers and to serve to aid Christ’s kingdom. Thank you for welcoming us

The first day that we went to Huikala we were new to the island, and I admit that I was a bit nervous. But EVERYONE was so welcoming to this mom and her 5 boys. They helped me figure out where to park (over in Ala Moana has always been the easiest for me), and made us feel at home. When I talk to people about Huikala, there are many who have seen and wondered about the big black building they pass as they go to Ala Moana (try parking near Foodland or on the 2nd floor near the Jamba Juice/Nordstroms). If you are one of those who has been wondering what the black building is, wonder no more! Come and join us this Sunday!

I've been coming to Huikala for about 4.5 years now and will continue to be my home church while I'm on the island. The children's ministry and nursery is something we truly appreciate now that we have a little one. Being a parent now, I understand the importance of investing and providing a good spiritual foundation to our child and being at a right place to nurture that is critical. The fellowship at Huikala is awesome. The church is composed of genuinely warm, joyful and God loving folks which makes our meet and greet truly special. We sing hymns and some newer songs that glorify Jesus. The sermon is relayed in a very clear and simplified way that everyone can understand; relatable/ applicable to all even in a different maturity levels of faith. Our pastor and his family looks out for everyone and encourages continued spiritual growth for each individual members as well as guests. I truly recommend this church and hope you can visit us soon so we can fellowship together.

Huikala Baptist Church truly feels like family. From the pastor to the people, the fellowship here is genuine and welcoming. My family of three have been attending Huikala for about 3 months now. The members are so welcoming and warm. I appreciate how passionate they are about sharing the love of Jesus through their words as well as their actions. It is always so encouraging and a blessing to see the faithful members still active in the church. The atmosphere is modern in terms of chairs instead of pews, and words projected on the screen versus hymnal books. The music is a combination of old hymns and contemporary christian songs. And the instrument used is mostly the piano, but the guitar, ukulele, and a cajo’n are used as well and sounds heavenly when played together. Paster King preaches God’s word as it is. He does not mince words or change words so as not to hurt feelings. Pastor King preaches the actual Bible and not some watered down version. He gives a historical context when preaching so you can grasp the ideology and life of the time being discussed. This is a bible preaching-bible believing church just like Christ’s church in the book of Acts. My family of three have grown immensely closer to the Lord over the past several months with this amazing body of believers. So much so, that we decided to join Huikala. And it’s amazing to see just how much this church is stirring people’s hearts. It’s special! And, my family and I want to be a part of it. If you live in the area or if you’re just visiting, Huikala is a church you wanna come and see!

Huikala Baptist Church truly feels like family. From the pastor to the people, the fellowship here is genuine and welcoming. What I love most is the authenticity, you don’t have to put on a front or pretend to have it all together. It’s a safe place to be honest, grow, and be encouraged in your walk with Christ. This church sticks closely to the Word of God, teaching what the Bible actually says rather than personal opinions. I also really appreciate the focus on developing and cultivating strong Christian men. We’re so thankful God led us here.

Huikala has been such a blessing to my family and I. We started attending the church during the COVID pandemic, and from day #1 I felt the love of other Christians that made me feel at home immediately despite all the lockdowns that were in place. This church preaches the entire book of the Bible. The Pastor and staff are committed to meeting you where you are, teaching and preaching the Word of God, and helping you to become a stronger disciple for the cause of Christ.

My family of three have been attending Huikala for about 3 months now. The members are so welcoming and warm. I appreciate how passionate they are about sharing the love of Jesus through their words as well as their actions. It is always so encouraging and a blessing to see the faithful members still active in the church. The atmosphere is modern in terms of chairs instead of pews, and words projected on the screen versus hymnal books. The music is a combination of old hymns and contemporary christian songs. And the instrument used is mostly the piano, but the guitar, ukulele, and a cajo’n are used as well and sounds heavenly when played together. Paster King preaches God’s word as it is. He does not mince words or change words so as not to hurt feelings. Pastor King preaches the actual Bible and not some watered down version. He gives a historical context when preaching so you can grasp the ideology and life of the time being discussed. This is a bible preaching-bible believing church just like Christ’s church in the book of Acts. My family of three have grown immensely closer to the Lord over the past several months with this amazing body of believers. So much so, that we decided to join Huikala. And it’s amazing to see just how much this church is stirring people’s hearts. It’s special! And, my family and I want to be a part of it. If you live in the area or if you’re just visiting, Huikala is a church you wanna come and see!

This church is awesome! Met a man in the service named McKinley who was so happy with his church family and his pastor. He was very encouraging to talk to. You could tell from him that pastor king has been doing a great job leading his church and teams with a strong emphasis towards the gospel and team unity. What a blessing!

When we first moved to Oahu, we were looking for a church that preached the Bible and had a strong since of community. Our first weekend on island we were invited to Huikala and have been attending ever since. My family has been challenged and grown tremendously from the Biblical messages God has used to convict us and draw us closer to him. My children (3, 8, 10) beg to go to church, they leave their programs sharing details of what they learn from the Bible each week. If you are looking for a Bible teaching and believing church home, Huikala is it!

So thankful we found Huikala Baptist Church while visiting Oahu for vacation. We immediately felt like family when we came here. The people are so welcoming and genuinely kind. Solid Bible teaching. Great kids ministry from people who evidently care about kids. We'll definitely come back to Huikala on our next visit.

This church has changed my life it is the biggest blessing on this island I don't know where I would be without it this is my husband's and my new family our pastor preaches the word of God and this church has never been about a building it is about the people it is not the most does not have the biggest band or put on the entertainment shows it simply preaches the word of God Faithfully every week. Our numbers have continued to grow because God is faithful and he is really doing a work.
