The series
Messages from our Mission Emphasis Sundays, calling the church to give, go, and pray for the reaching of the world with the Gospel.
The ordinary ground where you make your living is the ground God wants.
Common ground turns to holy ground when God claims it.
And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.Exodus 3:5
Look up from your work long enough to see the harvest.
Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.John 4:35
We must have a sense of urgency.
Nobody hears without a preacher, and no preacher goes without a sender.
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?Romans 10:14
The Gospel work is worth all we have.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.Matthew 13:44
Lay it down first, then look up for the fire.
Pray, give, go and let God handle what happens after that.
And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.Acts 13:3
Fire has never come down on an altar with nothing on it.
Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.1 Kings 18:38
God’s wrath was turned away because a sacrifice was accepted.
Jesus is the payment, and the whole world has a right to hear about it.
And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.1 John 2:2
God never built His house to be a family room for the few.
Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.Isaiah 56:7
Give the Lord, your calendar, your vocation, your reputation, your time, your talent and your treasure.
Pray daily for our missionaries and pray for how you might join them.
Sacrifice all to God and allow Him to decide how He will use it.
Be faithful with the Gospel message on our mission field this week.
18Then the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and set up an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite. 19And David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spake in the name of the LORD. 20And Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat. 21And as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshingfloor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground. 22Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of this threshingfloor, that I may build an altar therein unto the LORD: thou shalt grant it me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people. 23And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all. 24And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost. 25So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight. 26And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering. 27And the LORD commanded the angel; and he put up his sword again into the sheath thereof. 1 Chronicles 21:18-27
