In this sermon, Pastor Anthony King emphasizes the importance of understanding God's will, living a life worthy of Jesus's sacrifice, and growing in spiritual wisdom. We are encouraged as believers to live in a manner that reflects Jesus's character, bearing fruit in every good work, and constantly striving to bring glory and honor to God.
“For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;”
Colossians 1:9-10
We must know the will of God.
All Christians have received a two-part call: COME and GO.
Come to Jesus and sacrifice yourself for the sake of the Kingdom.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.Romans 12:1-2
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.Luke 9:23
Go and preach the Gospel.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.Matthew 28:19-20
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.Mark 16:15
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.Acts 1:8
We must grow in wisdom and spiritual comprehension.
This wisdom gives discernment which helps us anticipate what God is doing.
Spiritual understanding helps us to see life from an eternal perspective.
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.1 Peter 4:12-13
We must live a life that is worth Jesus dying for.
God has given His Son to die for us. He expects us to live for Him.
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.Galatians 2:20
The way we live our lives should be fueled by all Jesus has done for us.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.Romans 12:1
While we could never repay the grace we have received, we should be compelled to give God a good return on His investment. We cannot waste the grace of God.
