This Is Huikala: Pray
Pastor Anthony King· October 25, 2026
Philippians 4:6-7
A sermon on Philippians 4:6-7: prayer is how we bring every worry and need to God, trusting that He cares for us. As a church we make prayer a priority, depending on God together and trusting Him for the peace only He can give.
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7
Anxiety and prayer cannot coexist in your head and heart.
Worry is you carrying what God already offered to carry for you.
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.1 Peter 5:7
Jesus told us to shut the door and pray where no one is watching but God.
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.Matthew 6:6
Nothing is too small to pray about and nothing is too big.
God is not annoyed by your asking, He invites it.
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:Matthew 7:7
Thanksgiving keeps your praying from turning into a list of complaints or a list of wants.
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.1 Thessalonians 5:18

Intercessory prayer carries other people, not just yourself.
God looks for people willing to stand in the gap for somebody else.
And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.Ezekiel 22:30
Refusing to pray for people is a sin against God, not just a failure to others.
Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way:1 Samuel 12:23
A praying church is guarded by a peace it could never cerate on its own.
When the early church prayed together, God moved on the room they were standing in.
And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.Acts 4:31
God’s house is supposed to be known for praying before it is known for anything else.
And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.Mark 11:17
When worry wakes you up, pray before you start problem-solving.
Pick a time and a place to meetup with God before you start the day.
Keep a prayer list of needs to bring before God. Keep them to look back and see how God has worked in your life.
Make prayer with your church family a priority. A church that prays together stays dependent together.
6Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
