Colossians 3:22
The series
A Sunday evening series on living an extraordinary faith in an ordinary life.
God tells you to obey the people you work under, even when they’re not perfect.
Your boss doesn’t have to earn your obedience, God already commanded it.
Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.1 Peter 2:18
Submitting to imperfect authority is one of the clearest ways you show you trust God.
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.Romans 13:1
Who you are when nobody’s watching is who you actually are.
God sees the hours nobody records and the corners nobody catches.
Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.Hebrews 4:13
A heart of integrity toward God ends the exhausting work of managing your image.
Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.Psalm 86:11
Do your work wholeheartedly, because you’re really working for Jesus.
Give your full effort, not the leftovers, because Jesus is the one you’re serving.
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.Ecclesiastes 9:10
Half-hearted work by a believer says something false about the God you claim.
And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.Malachi 1:8
Your real paycheck comes from the Lord, not from your employer.
God keeps a record of your labor even when your company never notices it.
For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.Hebrews 6:10
The reward waiting for you can’t be cut, delayed, or taken away.
To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,1 Peter 1:4
Name the one place you’re giving eyeservice.
Do tomorrow’s least favorite task first and do it well.
Stop working for the thank you.
Say something honest about your boss to God before you say anything about him to a coworker.
22Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: 23And what soever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:22-24
