Ephesians 4:25
The series
A Sunday evening series on living an extraordinary faith in an ordinary life.
Tell the truth, because you belong to the people you’re talking to.
Lying isn’t just a personal sin, it damages the whole body you’re part of.
Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.Proverbs 12:22
Honest words are how trust gets built between believers.
These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:Zechariah 8:16
Deal with your anger before the day runs out.
Anger you refuse to settle becomes a foothold for the enemy in your home.
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:James 1:19
The longer you wait to make it right, the harder your heart gets.
But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.Hebrews 3:13
Every word you say should give grace to the person hearing it.
Rotten talk hurts the hearer and grieves the Holy Spirit living in you.
But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.Matthew 12:36
Words fitly spoken meet the need of the moment instead of feeding your own.
A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.Proverbs 25:11
Kindness and forgiveness are your response to how God has treated you.
You forgive because you’ve been forgiven, not because they deserve it.
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:Matthew 6:14
Bitterness put away has to be replaced with tenderness, or it comes right back.
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;Colossians 3:12
Fix the last lie you told.
Don’t go to bed angry tonight.
Ask one honest question before you speak into somebody’s mess.
Say the good thing out loud this week.
25Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. 26Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: 27Neither give place to the devil. 28Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. 29Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. 30And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 31Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. Ephesians 4:25-32
