A Study in James
Every false religion in the world was birthed from the idea that we must do something to get to the next level.
Are works necessary to be saved? No.
Are works necessary to have a real, fruitful, meaningful faith? Absolutely.
Seven Sacraments of Catholicism
There are seven sacraments. They were instituted by Christ and given to the Church to administer. They are necessary for salvation. The sacraments are the vehicles of grace which they convey. They are validly administered by the carrying out of the sign with the proper intention. Not all are equally qualified to administer all the sacraments. The validity of the sacrament is independent of the worthiness of the minister. Three sacraments imprint an indelible character.
1. Baptism: 2. Eucharist 3. Confirmation 4. Confession 5. Anointing of the sick 6. Marriage 7. Holy orders
Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God;
Baptism is the source of that new life in Christ from which the entire Christian life springs forth.
The Lord himself affirms that Baptism is necessary for salvation. By Baptism all sins are forgiven, original sin and all personal sins, as well as all punishment for sin.
Baptism not only purifies from all sins, but also makes the neophyte “a new creature,” an adopted son of God, who has become a “partaker of the divine nature,” member of Christ and co-heir with him, and a temple of the Holy Spirit
With respect to children who have died without Baptism, the liturgy of the Church invites us to trust in God’s mercy and to pray for their salvation… allow us to hope that there is a way of salvation for children who have died without Baptism
In short, the Catholic Church teaches that salvation is a gift from God, and the normative way we receive that gift is through the seven sacraments, beginning with baptism (see the Catechism 1113ff.). Sacraments are sensible signs Jesus Christ instituted to confer grace, i.e., divine life (CCC 1131; 1114-16). Source: catholic.com
But instruction on the Sacraments , which , by the ordinance of God , are a necessary means of salvation and a plenteous source of spiritual advantage , demands in a special manner his talents and industry.
No one can doubt that the Sacraments are among the means of attaining righteousness and salvation. Church, Catholic. Catechism of the Catholic Church: Trent Edition (p. 99).
Jehovah’s Witness
Who Goes To Heaven? God selects a limited number of faithful Christians who, after their death, will be resurrected to life in heaven. (1 Peter 1:3, 4) Once they have been chosen, they must continue to maintain a Christian standard of faith and conduct in order not to be disqualified from receiving their heavenly inheritance., Ephesians 5:5; Philippians 3:12-14. To gain salvation, you must exercise faith in Jesus and demonstrate that faith by obeying his commands., Acts 4:10, 12; Romans 10:9, 10; Hebrews 5:9. The Bible shows that you must have works, or acts of obedience, to prove that your faith is alive. (James 2:24, 26) However, this does not mean that you can earn salvation. It is “God’s gift” based on his “undeserved kindness,” or “grace.”, Ephesians 2:8, 9; King James Version.
Mormons
1. Faith 2. Repentance 3. Baptism
Baptism is a symbolic ordinance of cleansing that signifies our rebirth as disciples of Christ and followers of His gospel. Therefore this baptism must take place in the Mormon Church and is “the gateway through which we enter the celestial kingdom.”
4. Receive Holy Spirit We then receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, which is the fourth fundamental of Christ’s gospel, and our sins are forgiven.
5. Enduring to the End Enduring to the end is the fifth fundamental of the gospel that eventually leads to salvation. Taking the sacrament weekly is an important part of this process, and each time we partake of the bread and water, we remember Jesus Christ and His Atonement and we remember to keep the commandments of the restored gospel. “spend the balance of your lives trying to live the commandments of the Lord so he can eventually pardon you and cleanse you.”
Obedience to the Church, its teachings, and the prophet is essential for the Mormon to gain exaltation in the Celestial Kingdom. Obedience is the first law of heaven, the cornerstone upon which all righteousness and progression rest. Remember that perdition or hell is reserved for apostates-those who leave the Mormon Church and resign their membership in it. There is no salvation apart from total obedience of all laws and ordinances of the Church.

The only thing you can bring to your salvation is your sin and repentance.
Can real faith alone save? Absolutely.
Will real faith produce real works? Absolutely.
The moment you add anything to salvation, it is no longer salvation.
14What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. James 2:14-18
