Things Above Message 01 of 17
We Must Be the People (PM Service)
Pastor Anthony King· January 12, 2025
Colossians 3:1-2
As we step into Vision Night 2025, we are reminded that we must be the people who represent Jesus well, focus on eternal priorities, and make Him everything. Join us as we div we in to Colossians 3:1-4, exploring our mission as Christ’s ambassadors to a lost world, living with urgency and eternal purpose.
“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”
Colossians 3:1-2
We must be the people who represent Jesus well.
We reflect Jesus in all we do.
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.Matthew 5:14-16
No one else can represent His kingdom to a lost and dying world.
Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.2 Corinthians 5:20
We must be the people who set our focus on eternal priorities.
The world’s distractions can derail us from fulfilling our purpose.
And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.Luke 12:16-21
Our minds must be fixed on our mission and eternal rewards, not temporary gains.
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.John 9:4
We must be the people who make Jesus everything.
As those who have died to self and live in Christ, we carry the unique responsibility of advancing His kingdom. If we don’t do it,__ no one else will__.
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.Luke 9:23
Jesus calls us to step into the harvest with urgency and faithfulness.
Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.Matthew 9:37-38
We must live with eternal urgency.
If we believe Jesus is life, we should make sure our priorities match.
But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.2 Corinthians 9:6
1If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3:1-2
