The series
Messages on questions our church family asked to hear preached, taken straight from the Scriptures.
Why Do We Need A Church?
Because we need other people but mostly because we need CHRISTIAN PEOPLE in our lives.
And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch, Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.Acts 14:21-22
And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles. And there they abode long time with the disciples.Acts 14:27-28
We need people like us who have needs and burdens.
We need their encouragement.
We need their loving accountability and rebuke.
We need to be reminded that we are not the only one struggling in life at times.
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.Galatians 6:1-3
And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.Hebrews 10:21-25
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.2 Corinthians 1:3-6
Why Do We Need A Pastor?
God has ordained all authority and within all authority He has designated leadership.
The Church belongs to Jesus Christ as the Chief Shepherd (Colossians 1:18) but has called, ordained, and delegated the physical responsibility of overseeing His sheep to a local pastor. (Titus 1:5)
Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.Acts 20:28
The calling to pastor God’s people comes with two significant criteria: qualifications and responsibilities. The qualifications of a pastor are the character of the man and the responsibilities are the actions that flow from his character.
Why This Message?
We need to be reminded that the “church” is not a country club and having a consumer mentality only degrades the mission and capability of the body.
We have a responsibility within the church that matters to God.
I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.Ephesians 4:1-3
