Bible Translation
Autographs: The original letter from the human writer.
Inspiration: God-breathed
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:2 Timothy 3:16
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.2 Peter 1:20-21
Manuscripts: Manuscripts are hand-written copies of these original autographs.
God promised to preserve these words to every generation.
The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.Psalm 12:6-7
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.1 Peter 1:23-25
There are over 3000 copies of various portions of the Hebrew Old Testament.
There are over 5000 New Testament manuscripts.
Text: Manuscripts are compared, contrasted and collated to develop into a master text from which translation work can be accomplished.
Two Major New Testament Texts
Byzantine Text
For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.John 17:8
Alexandrian Text
Translation: The act of transferring the words and meaning of one language into another language.
Received Text Translation: KJV, NKJV, MEV
Critical Text Translation: Everything else
Formal Equivalency: A method of translation which is more concerned with a word for word rendering of the source text as versus seeking to explain any perceived meaning.
Dynamic Equivalency: A method of translation which is more concerned with capturing the perceived meaning of a text as versus a literal word for word rendering of the source text.
Why does Huikala use the KJV?
It comes from the superior text.
It’s an accurate word for word translation. We prefer formal equivalency.
It brings generational unity. People have been using it for over 400 years.
Bible translations come in bad, good, better and best. Desire the best.
Whatever version of the Bible you choose, read it, obey it, build your life upon it.
