The series
A Study of the Book of Philippians
A heart of gratitude and praise increases our joy.
Remember the faithfulness of God.
And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High. I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old. I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.Psalm 77:10-12
Remember how God used others in your life.
Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction. Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only. For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.Philippians 4:14-16
#Our testimony of faithfulness increases the joy of others. Our lack of faithfulness dishonors the Lord.
For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off. Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.Isaiah 48:9-11
Our lack of faithfulness is harmful to other Christians.
I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.Galatians 1:6-7
Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works: Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.2 Timothy 4:14-15
Our thankfulness should be linked to our prayerfulness.
Pray for the needs of others.
We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;1 Thessalonians 1:2
Pray for others continually.
We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,Colossians 1:3
Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;Ephesians 1:16
Commitment to the Gospel draws us together.
For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;Romans 1:9
Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.Ephesians 2:19-22
Don’t quit. People are counting on you.
Pray for those who God has used in your life.
Show gratitude to those who God has used in your life.
Latch on to others that are about the Gospel life.
3I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, 4Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, 5For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; Philippians 1:3-5
