Embrace joy as a continual, daily attitude.
Joy should be the default heart status of the Spirit-filled Christian.
As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.2 Corinthians 6:10
Gratitude reminds our heart of the multitude of reasons for joy.
Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.Psalm 16:11
Make prayer part of your gratitude routine.
How grateful are we if we don’t stop to say thanks?
And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.Luke 17:12-18
An authentically grateful heart will praise.
Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.Psalm 111:1
Choose gratitude in every circumstance.
Gratitude turns what we have into enough.
O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.Psalm 107:1
Gratitude has the power to shift our perspective from our problems to God’s provision.
O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.Psalm 105:1
Even trials are a reason to praise.
Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.Psalm 30:4
Being in God’s will means having a grateful heart.
You cannot be in the will of God if you are ungrateful and discontented with what God has given you.
16Rejoice evermore. 17Pray without ceasing. 18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
