The book of Romans
Ready to play
This sermon from Romans 10:14–15 emphasizes that salvation is only possible when people hear and believe the Gospel, which requires faithful believers to proclaim it. It challenges the church to pray, give, and go so that the message of Christ can reach every heart through God’s ordained means of preaching.
“For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Romans 10:10
The series
Messages from Easter, Christmas, New Year, missions and anniversary Sundays, and guest preachers.
People cannot get saved without believing in Jesus.
Faith and repentance are essential for salvation, as salvation comes through belief on Jesus.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.John 3:16
Belief requires belief in their heart and a confession with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and Savior.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.Romans 10:9-10
People cannot believe without hearing the Gospel.
The gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.Romans 1:16
Hearing the Word of God produces faith.
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.Romans 10:17
People cannot hear without someone preaching to them.
Preaching is the God-ordained means by which the gospel is communicated.
For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.1 Corinthians 1:21
Every believer is called to proclaim the good news, not just pastors or missionaries.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.Matthew 28:19-20
Preachers cannot go unless they are sent.
The church must actively send and support those who preach the Gospel.
As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.Acts 13:2-3
God’s sovereignty ensures that those He sends will accomplish His purpose.
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.Isaiah 55:11
Pray for laborers in the harvest field.
Support missions financially and in prayer.
Share the Gospel in your sphere of influence.
Be willing to go wherever God sends you.
10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? Romans 10:10-14
