Power to Change the World
Pastor Anthony King· April 20, 2025
Mark 16:20
This sermon, Power to Change the World, emphasizes the believer's calling to actively spread the Gospel through the power of the Holy Spirit, not just in words but in daily life and action. Rooted in scriptures like Acts 1:8 and Matthew 28:19–20, it challenges Christians to live as bold witnesses for Christ, trusting in God's presence and power to bring transformation.
“And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.”
Mark 16:20
The series
Messages from Easter, Christmas, New Year, missions and anniversary Sundays, and guest preachers.
They got to work.
Reaching the world will not happen by talking about it.
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.Acts 1:8
We have a command to go, otherwise we are disobedient.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.Matthew 28:19-20
They shared the Gospel everywhere.
The message wasn’t reserved for a certain day of the week.
And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.Acts 2:46-47
The message wasn’t reserved for a certain place.
God worked with them.
We are never alone in our work for the Lord.
I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.John 15:1-2
We must remember where our help comes from.
A Song of degrees. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.Psalm 121:1-2
Their lives backed up their message.
A changed life is the clearest billboard for what Jesus can do.
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.1 Timothy 1:15-16
We are messengers of hope and renewal.
Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.2 Corinthians 5:20
And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. Mark 16:20
