Romans: The Power of the Gospel Message 150 of 150
Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow
Pastor Anthony King· October 4, 2026
Romans 16:21-27
A sermon on Romans 16:21-27, the close of Romans: stay connected to faithful believers and anchored in the true Gospel. The Gospel should produce obedient faith, not just more Bible knowledge, and as God establishes His people through Jesus Christ, all glory belongs to Him alone.
“Timotheus my workfellow, and Lucius, and Jason, and Sosipater, my kinsmen, salute you.”
Romans 16:21
The series
Verse by verse through Paul’s letter to the church at Rome: the Gospel of God’s righteousness, from our ruin in sin to life lived as a living sacrifice.
Stay connected to faithful, Gospel-centered people.
Healthy Christians build deep relationships with faithful coworkers, not spiritual loners.
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.Hebrews 10:24-25
Your closest spiritual influences should strengthen your walk, not damage it.
He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.Proverbs 13:20
Trust God’s power to establish you in the true Gospel.
Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,Romans 16:25
Your stability in a world of false teaching comes from God’s power, not your willpower.
“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,”
Jude 24
Hold tightly to the true Gospel and reject every “Different version.”
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.Galatians 1:8-9
Let the revealed mystery of the Gospel shape how you live.
The Gospel is God’s long-hidden plan now clearly revealed, so treat it as precious.
Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:Colossians 1:26-27
The goal of God’s revealed Gospel is your “obedience of faith,” not just your information.
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.James 2:17-18
Keep your eyes on the only wise God and give Him all the glory.
When false teachers exalt themselves, remember that all glory belongs to God alone.
That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.1 Corinthians 1:31
God’s wisdom in the Gospel should lead you to worship, not worry.
O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.Romans 11:33-36
Intentionally surround yourself with faithful, Gospel people.
Anchor your life in the true Gospel, not in personalities.
Respond to the Gospel with obedient faith, not mere agreement.
Practice daily God-centered, Jesus-focused worship.
AMEN
21Timotheus my workfellow, and Lucius, and Jason, and Sosipater, my kinsmen, salute you. 22I Tertius, who wrote this epistle, salute you in the Lord. 23Gaius mine host, and of the whole church, saluteth you. Erastus the chamberlain of the city saluteth you, and Quartus a brother. 24The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. 25Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, 26But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: 27To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen. Romans 16:21-27
