Romans: World Famous Faith Family

The church at Rome wasn’t famous, their faith was.

Not their pastor Not their building Not their financial influence

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.Hebrews 11:6

They didn’t make excuses.

For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.Romans 16:19

They poured into the lives of others. (v.12)

They loved and encouraged people.

Whensoever I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first I be somewhat filled with your company.Romans 15:24

They were a disciple-making church.

Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my glorying of you: I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation. For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears. Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus; And not by his coming only, but by the consolation wherewith he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more.2 Corinthians 7:4-7

They were collectively fully engaged.

Everyone was doing their part.

They fought to reach a city.

If God wants to reach Honolulu, we are the people to do it.

TO REACH OUR CITY, WE NEED TO PLANT AN ADDITIONAL 1,000 CHURCHES.

NO ONE IS COMING TO HELP.

We must be proactive in evangelism by bringing them to Jesus.

We must prepare financially.

They lived by faith.

For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.Romans 8:24-25

If there’s not a measure of fear, you likely aren’t living by faith.

If your life makes logical sense to an unsaved person, you likely aren’t living by faith.

And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. For faith to be meaningful, it must be lived out in a real, tangible way.
