The series
Verse by verse through Paul’s letter to the church at Rome: the Gospel of God’s righteousness, from our ruin in sin to life lived as a living sacrifice.
Creation eagerly awaits the revealing of God’s children.
All nature awaits a glorious future.
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.Psalm 19:1
Creation longs for the revealing of God’s children.
For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.Romans 8:22
Creation was subjected to futility, not by its own choice, but by God’s will.
Creation was subjected to futility, not by its own will.
And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;Genesis 3:17
Creation is currently held in bondage to corruption, decay, and death. This is all by God’s sovereign plan.
For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,Romans 8:20
Creation will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of God’s children.
Creation will be freed from bondage to corruption.
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.Revelation 21:1
Creation will share in the glorious freedom of God’s children.
For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.Isaiah 65:17
Both creation and believers groan in the present, eagerly awaiting future redemption.
All creation groans as in childbirth.
We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.1 John 3:14
Believers groan inwardly, awaiting full adoption and redemption.
For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:2 Corinthians 5:2
Maintain an eternal perspective during present sufferings.
While we wait for the coming glory, we still have work to do.
Life is short. Eternity is long.
Share the Gospel to prepare others for eternity.
19For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. 20For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, 21Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. 23And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. Romans 8:19-23
