Romans: God's Wrath and Homosexuality

BASIC BIBLE TRUTHS

The Bible is our final authority for all matters of faith and practice.

When we disagree with the Bible, we disagree with God.

When we disagree with God, we suppress the Truth to make our own version of the truth.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;Romans 1:18

When unbelievers, non-Christians disagree with the Bible, they have been blinded by Satan.

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.2 Corinthians 4:3-4

We must stand for truth, but with much love and grace.

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:Ephesians 4:14-15

Jesus did not compromise the truth, but was willing to give grace.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.John 1:14

Jesus did not condemn others, but also did not condone them.

When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.John 8:10-11

Our own sin is just as offensive to God as the sin of others.

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.1 Corinthians 6:9-11

We are commanded to love and serve everyone in the name of Jesus. Hatred is the opposite of the gospel.

Love, kindness and authentic Christianity draws unbelievers to Jesus.

Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;1 Peter 3:1

If we compromise the truth, we are guilty of Romans 1:18.

The cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by God as judgment for their rampant homosexuality.

And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground; And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night. And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat. But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.Genesis 19:1-5

For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it. And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law. And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.Genesis 19:13-15

Lot was required to separate from the wickedness of the city or face God’s judgment.

And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city. And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.Genesis 19:15-16

God created us with sexual desire to be fulfilled within the boundaries of monogamous, heterosexual marriage. Anything outside of this is sin.

The devolution of the idolatrous heart leads to sexual immorality, specifically homosexuality. (v.26-27)

These sexual lusts are deemed against the nature which God intended and dishonorable. Unnatural does not mean against man’s sinful nature, but against the nature of man which God intended.

Those caught in this sin will experience a loss of dignity and honor.

When people trade away the God of creation for other gods, they also trade away the design of God’s creation for a counterfeit of that design.

Homosexuality is not a sin that God will judge mankind for, it is His present judgment on a culture of idolatry.

The expansion, proliferation and explosion of homosexuality in a culture and the demeaning mankind is an expression of the wrath of God upon that society.

There is a concentrated, willful attack against biblical family values and human sexuality in our society.

We must educate our children, otherwise the world will do it for us.

We must love and serve all people in the name of Jesus.

The world will not know the love of Jesus unless we model it for them.

We must not celebrate or condone that which God calls sin.

We must share Jesus, as He is the only hope for the sin that plagues us.

Repentance is necessary for all sin. We must agree with God that we are wrong and have a heart to make things right.
