The unsaved man has no fear of God.
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David the servant of the LORD. The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes. For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful. The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good. He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil.Psalm 36:1-4
The fear of God is a reverential respect that understands His awesomeness, greatness, majesty and glory.
And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.Job 28:28
The reverential fear of God fuels our worship.
O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.Psalm 95:1
The reverential fear of God drives us to salvation.
He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.Psalm 145:19
The reverential fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.Psalm 111:10
The fear of God is also a terror of the righteous anger and wrath of God.
Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?Psalm 76:7
The fear of God should drive us away from sin.
The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.Proverbs 8:13
If one does not fear God in reverential worship, they will ultimately fear God in His burning wrath.
And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.Psalm 64:9
God’s wrath is always balanced by His grace and His immediate willingness to forgive.
Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.Micah 7:18-19
The absence of the fear of God is a result of ignorance.
The absence of the fear of God is a result of selfishness.
The absence of the fear of God is a result of the fear of man.
